Senior photography is so much fun for me – I love getting to connect with young ladies and gents at this exciting and special time of their lives! Karina was my photography student a couple years ago, and I’ve loved watching her (and her many talents and passions) grow over the years. While so many photographers – myself included- HATE being in front of the camera, Karina was so comfortable and didn’t need any direction! She really infused so much of her personality into this session – I love how it’s a reflection of her, at that very moment.
As soon as I met Taniesha and heard her talk about her fiance, Nicholas, I knew I had to be the one to shoot their intimate ceremony at Oatlands in Leesburg. Their love story – how they met, took a break and then ultimately realized that they were meant to be together – really resounded with the romantic in me.
I couldn’t be more honored to photograph them as they tied the knot with only Taniesha’s son and one friend to witness the special occasion. The following portrait session was absolutely amazing – with no timeline looming over our heads, we simply wandered the stunning gardens, stopping to take photos whenever we wanted!! Taniesha trusted my vision and eye to create portraits that would capture their love, and I am so thankful for her confidence in me. I could totally get used to weddings like this 🙂 Congratulations to Taniesha and Nicholas!!
Even the hurricane and flood warnings couldn’t keep the joy out of Nicole and Michael’s wedding day! Their fun and colorful wedding was such a great time full of dancing and laughter- and some really great barbecue! I love how they really kept their day focused on the important things – their love for each other and their love for their families really came through in every part of the day. Thank you to Daniel Sone for being my trusty second shooter! Enjoy the images from their special wedding!
There are so many cool things about my friend Hilary. We met while studying Journalism at AU and both being transfer students, totally hit it off! One, she works in the event planning world, and is my go-to any time I need advice on beer. Two, she runs marathons and is a total beast at them!! Three, she used to let me crash at her apartment when we were in school together. Four, she is my movie buddy – I saw Twilight with this girl (maybe that’s more embarrassing than cool, but whatever.) Five, our birthdays are one day apart. But I think my favorite fun fact about Hils is that she was one of my first models back when I was just getting started in learning studio lighting. She put up with a TON of awkward, weirdly lit photos that I would be pretty embarrassed to show you. But kudos to her for not letting my amateur beginnings scare her off!! And her patience with me paid off, because five or so years later, now that she’s engaged and getting married next June, she was totally comfortable in front of my camera 🙂 A HUGE thank you to Old 690 Brewing Company for letting us take over their sweet location on a Sunday morning. If these photos are any indication of how awesome their wedding photos will be, I’m super pumped!! #nickary all the way!!
This is how behind I am in blogging: this session was one of the highlights of my year, and I am just now getting to blogging about it!! Guilt, guilt, guilt.
I’ve known Caroline for several years, and even back when she was just starting high school, I knew she was going to be a Big Deal. I’ve been lucky to photograph her perform in a variety of roles, but my favorite memories of her are from this past summer, when she would come over and hang out while we ate sushi, had dance parties on my kitchen counters or just sang showtunes at the piano. I love how open and unjudgemental she is. I love that she can laugh at herself – but also examine her own heart. She is so secure in who she is, and it makes me want to be like her any time we talk.
As soon as she said she wanted her session to feel like Taylor Swift’s 1989 personified, I knew we were going to be shooting her session in New York City, where she is attending college this fall. And wow, it was amazing. I brought my husband and she brought her friend Kat, and we would’ve made Tay Tay proud! I hope the images show what an amazing time we had – because when I look at them, I see not only the beautiful young lady that Caroline is (inside and out!), but also one of the best weekends of my life.
